Gateway to Industry Schools program

“This program aligns with the technology, innovation and entrepreneurial focus of our Queensland Government, and in the Gateway to Industry Schools program we consider Knoei to be an industry partner.

What this means is that Knoei engage with our schools. They facilitate sessions with students starting from concept to commerce. They are always willing to share their knowledge and expertise with our students and, for us, there is a real opportunity for students to explore becoming a technopreneur. “

“I work with first-year university students, and I am very excited about the opportunities for entrepreneurial education available to school students through the Knoei Colab.

Entrepreneurial mindsets and skills are critical for the future workforce. School students with these skills will graduate well ahead of their peers – regardless of which pathway they choose to follow.

School FAQ’s

How long does the Knoei Colab take?

The Knoei Colab is delivered across 18 months. We offer two intakes a year: in term 1 (January) and term 4 (October) as some schools begin Year 11 studies in term 4 of Year 10.

Year 11 students commencing in term 1: The diploma is delivered as one module per term in the class timetable or via the virtual tutorials.

Year 12 students commencing in term 1 can study in timetable and then complete the final 6 months during Year 13 as a gap year. Students can apply for early entry offers on completion.

How many students are needed from one school?

As the Colab is a hybrid program, we can accept as few as one student from a school. However, to include the program into your timetable as an elective offering, we require a minimum of 22 students to create an effective learning cohort.

How much teacher support will the students need?

Students have 90 minutes of contact time per week. If needed they can attend two separate virtual tutorials a week to split across the timetable.

Additionally, we recommend three hours outside school to progress the modules content as homework. They will need to be released from school 1 day a term to attend the Learning Labs.

Any supervising teacher or VET coordinator support is welcome, but we do provide a wraparound support process for students to ensure they complete their learning activities. Talk to us about a partner delivery option once your teachers are trained in the Diploma!

How do our teachers become qualified to teach the Knoei Colab?

We offer an accelerated program over 12 months so teachers can understand the program content and gain the qualification .

If teachers have the required VET trainer qualifications, they can co -deliver in the classroom with our facilitation team.

Our teacher training program commences in December 2024.

How does the Knoei Colab work for teacher training?

This program is virtual ONLY with one intake a year delivered after-hours with a mixed delivery method of self-paced online and virtual webinars.

Teachers in training complete 1 module across 2 months with no holiday periods.

Teachers or staff who are enrolled in this can co-deliver with our innovation facilitators under supervision (unless they have had a start-up or business experience)

Once qualified, they can deliver classroom tutorials with Knoei support.
